Mom’s Baked Beans!

My work hosted a cookout to raise money for the American Heart Association. I volunteered for Baked Beans and Peanut Butter Squares. I thought the Beans were pretty appropriate given the saying about beans… “Beans beans they’re good for your heart…” you know the rest 😉

This is a staple my Mother makes pretty much every summer and a few times each summer because it’s delicious and easy! Throw everything into the crock!


Ingredients:

  • 1 can (16 oz) pork and beans, undrained
  • 3 cans (16 oz) pork and beans, drained
  • ¾ cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 TBsp chili powder
  • 4 TBsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 TBsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp prepared mustard

Steps:

  1. Lightly grease Crockpot. Combine beans, onion, cheese, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, Brown sugar, vinegar and mustard in crock.
  2. Cover and cook on Low 6-8 hours, or High 3-4 hours.
  3. If its too soupy, remove top to let it thicken!

    I love Mom’s beans!!! This are a MUST-HAVE for any barbeque, potluck, casual dinner!

    The original recipe calls for adding cooked bacon in it which adds an extra dimension.
    I never measure any of the ingredients, just handfuls, spoonful, eyeball it…It always comes out good.
